The order your categories and items appear in is what guests see when they browse your menu online. You can rearrange both from the Owner Dashboard or the Owner App by dragging them into the order you want, then saving.
Who can use this?
Anyone who can edit your menu in the Owner Dashboard or the Owner App.
✅ Any order change goes live on your customer-facing website as soon as you save.
Reorder categories
Categories are the sections of your menu, like Appetizers, Entrees, or Drinks. This controls the order those sections appear in on your website.
In the Owner Dashboard
In the left-hand navigation, click Menu.
Click the Menus tab at the top of the page.
Click the menu you want to work with.
Scroll down to the Categories section.
Each category has a set of dots next to it. Click and hold the dots to drag and drop the category into the order you want. This is the order guests will see on your website.
Click Save Menu at the top when you're done.
In the Owner App
Go to Menu in the app.
Tap the dropdown arrow and choose the menu you want to work with.
Tap Edit in the top-right corner.
Under Categories, tap Edit.
Use the three vertical lines on the right-hand side to drag and drop the categories into the order you want.
When you're finished, tap Done.
Tap Save in the top-right corner.
ℹ️ The check mark at the top only appears when there are no unsaved changes, and it simply closes the screen. Once you reorder categories, it's replaced by Save, and the back control becomes Cancel.
Reorder items within a category
Items are the individual dishes inside a category. This controls the order they appear in under that section on your website.
In the Owner Dashboard
In the left-hand navigation, click Menu.
Click the Categories tab at the top of the page.
Click the category you want to work with.
Scroll down to the Items section.
Each item has a set of dots next to it. Click and hold the dots to drag and drop items into the order you want. This is the order guests will see on your website.
Click Save Category at the top when you're done.
⚠️ POS-connected menus (Clover Menu Sync and Otter): the Items list in the category editor is read-only and shows no drag handles. Click Override beside the Items heading to unlock drag and drop, reorder the items, then click Save Category. Restore from POS reverts the list back to the POS order, and View POS Item order shows the original POS order.
