Create and add options

An option is a single choice inside an option group, like Small, Large, or Extra cheese. You create the option, then add it to the option group where guests will choose it. Options and option groups are also known as modifiers and modifier groups.

✅ Short on time? Ask Owner Agent to create an option and add it to a group for you. Open Ask Owner in your Owner Dashboard or Owner App.

Create an option

Create the option first. It has a display name guests see and a price.

In the Owner Dashboard

  1. Click Menu in the left-hand navigation.

  2. Click the Options tab at the top of the page.

  3. Click Create Option.

  4. Enter the Display Name that guests see and the Amount (the price). If the option is free, enter $0.00.

  5. Set the Internal Name or Availability if you need them.

  6. Click Save Option.

In the Owner App

ℹ️ Note: In the app, you create an option directly inside the option group where it belongs.

  1. Tap More, then tap Menu.

  2. Tap the dropdown arrow and choose the menu you want to work with.

  3. Tap the category that includes the item with the option group you want to add to.

  4. Tap the item.

  5. Tap the option group.

  6. Tap + Add option.

  7. Tap + Create new option.

  8. Enter the option name, then tap Save.

Add options to an option group

Once your options exist, add them to the group where guests will pick them. Create the options first, or the group will be empty.

In the Owner Dashboard

⚠️ On Clover (menu sync) and Otter option groups, the Options list is read-only. Add options in your POS, and they flow in on the next sync.

  1. Click Menu in the left-hand navigation.

  2. Click the Option Groups tab at the top of the page.

  3. Click the option group you want to add options to.

  4. Scroll to the Options section and click Add Options.

  5. Check the options you want to add, then click Add Options. You can also create a new option from this screen.

  6. Click Save at the top.

In the Owner App

  1. Tap More, then tap Menu.

  2. Tap the dropdown arrow and choose the menu you want to work with.

  3. Tap the category that includes the item with the option group.

  4. Tap the item.

  5. Scroll to Options and tap the option group.

  6. Tap + Add option.

  7. Check the option you want to add, then tap Save.

✅ Tip: The options you add appear to guests whenever they pick an item that uses this group.
