Pause online orders (Store Pause)

Store Pause, part of Busy Mode, temporarily stops ASAP online orders when your kitchen is slammed, without closing online ordering. Guests can still order, but incoming orders are scheduled for after your pause window, so you stay open and visible to guests.

Store Pause vs. Busy Mode

Both help you manage a busy kitchen, but they work differently:

  • Busy Mode: Guests can still place ASAP orders, and those orders go straight into your kitchen's active queue.

  • Store Pause: Guests can still place orders, but they come in as scheduled orders. They don't reach your active queue until each order's prep-time window starts, which gives your kitchen a real break.

Use Store Pause, not Special Hours, for a short pause

To stop taking orders for a little while, use Store Pause, not Special Hours. Turning off your hours with Special Hours can hurt your Google visibility. Store Pause keeps your restaurant listed and active while giving your kitchen a break.

Pause your online orders

Set your kitchen to Busy, then choose Pause online orders. On the pause screen, you choose:

  • What to pause: either All online orders or Marketplace orders only.

  • How long: 30 minutes, 60 minutes, or until your next business day.

Where you start depends on your device. The steps for each are below.

ℹ️ Note: When you pause All online orders, you'll see an estimated sales impact for that time before you confirm, so you can decide with the full picture.

Pause from your Owner Dashboard

  1. Go to Settings › Prep time.

  2. Click the status banner. It shows Normal or Busy.

  3. Select Busy.

  4. Click Pause online orders.

  5. Choose what to pause and how long.

  6. Click Pause online ordering.

Pause from the Owner app

  1. Open Store.

  2. Tap the status banner.

  3. Tap Busy.

  4. Tap Pause online orders.

  5. Choose how long.

  6. Tap Pause online ordering.

Pause from your Owner tablet or POS

  1. Tap the Kitchen status row near the bottom of the left menu.

  2. On the Prep time screen, tap Busy.

  3. Tap Pause online orders.

  4. Choose what to pause and how long.

  5. Tap Pause.

Resume your online orders

When you pause All online orders from your Owner tablet, a banner shows on your Kitchen status screen that orders are paused.

  1. Tap the banner that shows orders are paused.

  2. Tap Resume all orders. This resumes every paused channel at once, so you don't need to go through a checklist first.

Pause only DoorDash, Uber Eats, or Grubhub

To stop third-party marketplace orders but keep your own online ordering open, choose Marketplace orders on the pause screen, then pick which platforms to pause. You don't need to log in to DoorDash, Uber Eats, or Grubhub separately.

DoorDash and Uber Eats resume automatically when the duration ends. Grubhub doesn't follow the duration. It reopens on your next business day or as soon as you unpause.

What your guests see

Guests don't see your restaurant as closed. They see a longer ASAP time that includes your pause window, with a "busier than usual" note. If you pause for the rest of the day, guests can only place a scheduled order for your next opening.
