Kitchen status lets you slow down incoming orders when your kitchen is overwhelmed. Switch it to Busy and the app adds extra prep time to every new order for as long as you choose, then returns to normal on its own.
Requirements
Owner tablet or Owner POS
A role that can change checkout settings (the Kitchen status button only appears for these staff)
How Kitchen status works
Guests with active orders get a text letting them know their pickup or delivery time moved back. The Kitchen status button has three states:
Kitchen status (normal)
Busy kitchen
Orders paused
This card covers Busy mode. To stop online orders entirely, pause online orders instead.
Switch to Busy mode
Open the side menu and tap Kitchen status at the bottom.
Tap Busy.
Choose how much prep time to add. Pick one of the preset amounts, or tap Enter amount to type your own.
Choose an Ends in duration, which is how long Busy mode stays on. Both prep time and Ends in are required.
Tap Update prep time.
The status turns yellow and the button shows Busy kitchen with the current delay. When the Ends in time runs out, prep times return to your location's normal setting automatically.
Return to normal early
Tap Busy kitchen.
Tap Normal.
Tap Reset Busy Status.
The button turns green and shows Kitchen status again, and prep times resume your location's normal settings.
✅ Tip: if your restaurant has predictable busy windows (say, every Friday from 6 to 9 PM), set up prep time overrides instead of switching to Busy mode each time.
