Create and edit staff jobs

Jobs decide what each staff member can do, so set them up before you add your staff. Start with the Admin, Manager, and Employee jobs, or create your own when a role at your restaurant needs something different.

Requirements

From your Owner Dashboard

Create a job

  1. Go to Staff › Jobs.

  2. Click Add job.

  3. Enter a Title, like Shift Lead.

  4. (Optional) Enter a Default hourly pay. Staff with this job get this rate unless their profile has a different one.

Choose permissions and locations

  1. Click Set Permissions and turn on everything this job needs.

  2. Under Locations access, choose All current and future locations or select specific locations.

  3. Click Save.

ℹ️ Note: A new job doesn't change anyone's access until you give it to a staff member. Next, see Add, edit, or remove a staff member.

Edit a job

  1. Go to Staff › Jobs and click the job.

  2. Change the Title, Default hourly pay, permissions, or Locations access.

  3. Click Save Changes.

Delete a job

  1. Go to Staff › Jobs and click the job.

  2. Click Delete job.

  3. Confirm that you want to delete it.

⚠️ You cannot undo this. The job is removed from every staff member who has it. If it was someone's only job, they lose all their permissions until you give them another job.

From the Owner App

Create a job

  1. Tap More, then Staff Jobs.

  2. Tap Add job.

  3. Enter a Title and, if you want, a Default hourly pay.

  4. Tap Set Permissions and turn on everything this job needs.

Choose locations and save

  1. Tap Locations access and choose All current and future locations or select specific locations.

  2. Tap Save.

Edit or delete a job

  1. Tap More, then Staff Jobs, and tap the job.

  2. Make your changes, then tap Save Changes.

  3. To delete the job instead, tap Delete job and confirm.

⚠️ You cannot undo this. The job is removed from every staff member who has it. If it was someone's only job, they lose all their permissions until you give them another job.

Before you change a job

  • Changes apply to everyone who has the job. They see the changes the next time they log in.

  • Default hourly pay: staff with their own Hourly rate override keep their rate.

  • Title: past shifts in the Summary view of Staff › Pay and its export keep the old title, so the job can show on two rows.

  • Every job needs at least one permission and at least one location.

✅ Tip: Before you delete a job, check Staff › Members to see who has it. Give them a new job first so they don't lose access.
