Mark a menu item as non-taxable so sales tax isn't applied to it at checkout. Use this for items that are tax-exempt where you operate.
By default, every new item is taxable. Turning off the Apply sales tax for this item toggle makes that one item non-taxable, while the rest of your menu stays taxed as normal.
In the Owner Dashboard
Click Menu in the left-hand navigation.
Click the Items tab at the top of the page.
Click the item you want to edit.
Scroll down to Advanced Settings.
Find the Apply sales tax for this item toggle.
Toggle it off to mark the item as non-taxable.
Click Save Item.
ℹ️ Note: For a one-time tax exemption on a single in-person order (like a tax-exempt organization ordering at the counter), use your POS's Tax Exempt option at checkout instead. That's different from marking an item non-taxable here.
