Orders placed on DoorDash, Uber Eats and Grubhub come straight into your Owner POS or tablet, alongside your own online orders. Your Owner menu drives what guests see on all three.
Owner is the source of truth for your menu, prices, sold out items, hours and store status. Changes you make in Owner sync out to each marketplace you've connected, and price changes wait for your approval before they go.
How this differs from delivery through Owner
⚠️ Marketplace orders and delivery through Owner are two different things. Marketplace orders come from the apps. Delivery through Owner is us sending a driver for an order a guest placed on your own website.
Delivery through Owner | Marketplace orders | |
What it does | Owner sends an Uber or DoorDash driver to deliver an order a guest placed on your own website. | A guest orders on the DoorDash, Uber Eats or Grubhub app, and the order comes into your Owner POS or tablet. |
Where the guest orders | Your own Owner website or app. | The DoorDash, Uber Eats or Grubhub app. |
Who handles delivery fees | The guest pays a delivery fee. You can choose to contribute. | The marketplace handles delivery fees and pays out the guest side directly. Owner isn't involved. |
Your menu | You manage your Owner menu. Nothing syncs to the marketplaces. | Your Owner menu syncs to all three marketplaces. Price changes need your approval. |
Who can use this
Your location isn't connected to a point-of-sale integration.
Beyond that, you don't need any particular Owner plan. Owner POS isn't required.
⚠️ If your location is connected to a point-of-sale integration such as Toast, Clover, Square or Otter, don't connect a marketplace here. Set it up through your POS provider instead, and they'll bring those orders into your POS.
Getting connected
How you connect
You connect from Settings > Marketplaces in your Owner Dashboard. You do this yourself, no support ticket needed. Connecting, matching up your stores and choosing menus all happen in the Dashboard, while your tablet only receives marketplace orders and pauses or resumes them.
The steps differ by marketplace, so follow the card for the one you're connecting: Connect DoorDash to Owner, Connect Uber Eats to Owner or Connect Grubhub to Owner.
⚠️ Your menu only syncs one way. Owner pushes it out to the marketplace, so editing your menu in the DoorDash, Uber Eats or Grubhub portal will not change what guests see.
How orders arrive
Marketplace orders arrive in your Owner POS, tablet and app automatically, and each one is tagged with the marketplace it came from so you can filter your reports by channel. Caviar, DoorDash Storefront and Postmates aren't broken out separately. Orders are accepted automatically.
Two things worth knowing once orders start arriving: you can't add a charge or change the prep time after an order is confirmed, and Conversion Cards print automatically on marketplace receipts, so it's worth putting one in every bag.
What syncs to each marketplace
What | How it works |
Menu items | Your items, categories and options are published from Owner and stay in sync. |
Sold out items | Mark an item sold out in Owner and it becomes unavailable on the marketplace straight away. |
Store status | Your busy status, ordering toggle and special hours all sync from Owner. |
Price markup | Added as a percentage on top of your Owner menu prices, set separately for each marketplace. You approve changes before they go out. |
Pausing orders | Handled separately from your Owner online ordering. Pause each marketplace from your tablet under Kitchen Status > Pause orders > Marketplace. |
The three marketplaces don't all behave the same way. For the differences worth knowing about, see Differences between DoorDash, Uber Eats and Grubhub.
Reporting
Marketplace orders show up in all your Owner reports, tagged by the marketplace they came from, and marketplace payments are tracked as their own payment type.
Tax. Owner keeps tax the marketplace remits separately from tax you remit yourself, and leaves marketplace-remitted tax out of your tax liability so your reporting stays accurate. Tax-exempt orders aren't supported, so marketplace orders arrive with full tax applied.
Cancellations. A cancelled marketplace order updates in Owner on its own, reprints with a cancelled label, and is left out of your sales reporting.
Getting help with a marketplace order
⚠️ Marketplace orders don't follow the same support path as your own online orders. Refunds on a marketplace order are handled by the marketplace, not through your Owner refund flow.
Problems a guest is having such as a late driver, a missing item or the wrong order. The guest needs to contact DoorDash, Uber Eats or Grubhub in the app they ordered from. Owner support can't resolve these.
Problems on your side such as orders not coming through, your menu not syncing or a pricing question. Contact Owner support and we'll handle it.
Common questions
Does this cost extra?
Does this cost extra?
No. Marketplace integrations come with Owner at no extra cost.
What happens to my existing DoorDash or Uber Eats account?
What happens to my existing DoorDash or Uber Eats account?
Nothing changes. You keep your account, your ratings and your order history. Owner just becomes the system that receives and manages those orders.
Can I disconnect a marketplace?
Yes. You can disconnect Uber Eats and Grubhub yourself. For DoorDash you clear your side first, then contact Owner support to clear ours. Full steps for all three are in Disconnect a marketplace from Owner.
Worth knowing either way: disconnecting doesn't take your store off that marketplace. Your storefront stays live and keeps taking orders, they just stop reaching Owner.
Why does Uber Eats show a different prep time than I expect?
Why does Uber Eats show a different prep time than I expect?
Uber Eats works out its own prep and ready times using its own system, based on things like past orders and driver availability. If the prep time on your Uber Eats listing looks wrong, contact Uber Eats support directly.
