How often does Otter sync your POS menu to Owner?

Otter updates your menu every 10 minutes. Follow these steps if your changes don’t appear.

Step 1. Check the last sync time.

Make sure a sync actually ran after you made your changes.

  1. In your Owner Dashboard, go to Menu.

  2. Look at the Last sync time:

    • If it shows a timestamp before you made your edits, wait up to another ten minutes for the next sync.

    • If it’s still old after 10 minutes, move on to step 2.


Step 2. Confirm you edited the Owner/Otter menu in Toast.

Only the Owner / Otter menu syncs to Owner. Changes on other menus won’t appear.

  1. Log in to your Toast Dashboard.

  2. Go to Menus > Edit Menus.

  3. Select Owner / Otter Menu.

  4. Confirm your edits in the menu’s groups and subgroups.


Step 3. Make sure items aren’t marked unavailable.

Otter only pulls items that Toast shows as “in stock.” Items set to zero inventory won’t sync.

  1. In Toast, go to Menus > Bulk Management > Advanced Properties.

  2. Click Show/Hide (top right) and enable Inventory.

  3. Click the carrot (arrow) icon to open the Owner / Otter Menu, then find the item or modifier.

  4. In the Inventory column, remove any “0” to make it available.

  5. Save and Publish your changes.


Step 4. Publish your Toast changes.

Saving isn’t enough, publishing sends updates to Otter.

  1. After saving edits, click Publish Now when prompted.

  2. Wait for the confirmation that your menu is live.
