How do I download and set up Google Authenticator for Stripe on an Android?

Install Google Authenticator on Android and link it to Stripe for two-factor authentication.

Why you need this

Stripe requires extra sign-in protection. You'll need Google Authenticator to set up two-factor authentication (2FA) when creating your Stripe account. Installing it first makes setup faster.

Download Google Authenticator

1. Open the Google Play Store on your Android device.

2. Search for Google Authenticator. Make sure it's published by Google LLC.

3. Tap Install and wait for it to download.

Open and set up the app

1. Tap Open, then tap Get started.

2. If you have a Gmail account linked to your device, tap Continue to use it, or tap the dropdown to pick a different account.

3. If no Gmail account is linked, tap Use without an account.

Link Google Authenticator to Stripe

⚠️ Only do this step if you're setting up your Stripe account right now.

1. In Google Authenticator, tap Add a code.

2. Select Scan a QR code and allow camera access.

3. Point your camera at the QR code on the Stripe setup page.

4. The app shows a 6-digit code that refreshes every 30 seconds.

5. Enter the code into Stripe to complete your setup.
