How does SMS marketing work?

Learn how SMS campaign limits work with Owner, including how many blasts you can send per month and what counts toward your limit.

SMS is one of the most powerful ways to reach your guests. It's fast, personal, and gets opened more than almost any other channel. Owner includes a set number of campaigns per month per location. Use them however you'd like.


How Many SMS Campaigns Can I Send?

Monthly limits are set per location, based on that location's SMS subscriber count:

  • Locations with fewer than 2,500 SMS subscribers: 2 campaigns per calendar month

  • Locations with 2,500 or more SMS subscribers: 1 campaign per calendar month

⚠️ When you send to 'All Locations,' each location uses one send from its monthly allowance.

Example: A 5-location brand sending one campaign uses 5 sends total.

At this time additional SMS credits are not available for purchase.

ℹ️ Email marketing on Owner is unlimited and a great complement to SMS. Use it for regular updates, ongoing promos, or anything that doesn't need to go out by text.


Message Character Limits

Messages can include up to 300 characters. Emojis or special characters are included in the character count.

ℹ️ All opted-in guests at a location receive every SMS campaign. You can't target specific guests.


How to Find Your SMS Subscriber Count

  1. In your Owner Dashboard, click the Customers tab

  2. Your subscriber count is listed under Text subscribers
