Owner and DoorDash Integration Guide

How to connect DoorDash to your Owner dashboard, sync your menu, and start receiving DoorDash orders in Owner.

Before you start

Before you connect, get these ready:

  • An active DoorDash account that manages your DoorDash stores. If you don't have one, sign up directly with DoorDash first. The Sign up with DoorDash button inside Owner doesn't create an account, it only has DoorDash call you.

  • A complete Owner menu, ready to go live on DoorDash. You don't need to build a menu on DoorDash, Owner syncs yours for you once you connect.

  • Any older DoorDash integration disconnected on DoorDash's side, if you're switching from another system like Otter, Toast, or Clover.

⚠️ Caution: DoorDash sometimes closes your old integration for you, but most of the time it doesn't. A leftover connection is the most common reason things don't work right after you connect.

Connect your DoorDash account

  1. In your Owner dashboard, go to Settings, then Marketplaces.

  2. Click Connect next to DoorDash, then log in with your DoorDash account.

ℹ️ If you can't find the DoorDash store you expect, you're probably logged into the wrong DoorDash account. Log out of DoorDash, then log back in with the account that manages that store.

  3. Choose an Owner location, then pick the DoorDash store to connect it to.

⚠️ If you see an error about a previous integration, DoorDash still has an old connection on file, like one from Otter, Toast, or Clover, that was never fully closed out. Clear it from your DoorDash Merchant Portal, or contact DoorDash support, then try connecting again.

Choose your menu and pricing

  1. Under Menu to sync, choose the one menu you want on DoorDash.

ℹ️ Right now you can only sync one menu to DoorDash.

  2. To mark your prices up for DoorDash, set a Price increase. We recommend 15-20% to cover DoorDash's commission fees. You can change this anytime, separately from your Uber Eats or Grubhub pricing.

  3. Click Save. DoorDash reviews your menu in the background, which can take some time.

ℹ️ If DoorDash finds an issue with your menu, you'll get an email explaining what to fix. Make the change in your Owner dashboard, then use Re-sync for that location.

  4. Wait for DoorDash to approve your menu. Owner activates the integration for you, and orders start coming in. You don't need to activate anything yourself.

Tip: Once active, DoorDash orders come into your dashboard and POS automatically, tagged DoorDash, next to your other orders.

If a location can't connect

DoorDash works for any Owner location, including Owner POS, Owner Tablet only, and locations with no POS system. The only locations that can't connect are ones already using Otter, or ones running a different POS, like Toast, Clover, or Square, at that location.

ℹ️ If you try to connect one of these locations, you'll see a message letting you know that location can't connect because of its POS setup.

Receiving DoorDash orders

DoorDash orders come into your Owner dashboard, POS, and tablet automatically, tagged DoorDash.

ℹ️ Once a DoorDash order is confirmed, you can't add charges to it or adjust its prep time from Owner. Set your prep time accurately during setup. Guests also pay for DoorDash orders directly through DoorDash, so refund requests go through DoorDash support, not Owner.

Manage your menu

Manage your DoorDash menu from your Owner dashboard, the same way you manage the rest of your menu. When you make a change, it syncs to DoorDash automatically, usually within a few minutes.

⚠️ Caution: Once you're connected, update your menu only in Owner. Changes you make on DoorDash's side get overwritten the next time Owner syncs.

When you 86 an item in Owner, it's removed from DoorDash automatically. There's no way to bring it back on a timer, so reactivate it in Owner yourself when it's back in stock.

DoorDash only supports whole-pizza toppings. If you offer left-side or right-side toppings in Owner, guests won't see that option on DoorDash. To offer it anyway, create separate options in your menu, like Pepperoni, left side and Pepperoni, right side.

If your DoorDash menu looks out of date

Your DoorDash menu syncs automatically whenever you edit your menu in Owner, so there's no re-sync button to click in normal use.

ℹ️ A Re-sync menus button appears on your connected DoorDash store only when DoorDash has blocked your menu. If you see it, fix what DoorDash flagged in your Owner menu first, then click it.

Show a category only on marketplaces

Each category has Channels settings that control where it shows up, so you can run a marketplace-only category without it appearing on your own website.

  1. In your Owner dashboard, open the category you want to change.

  2. Under Channels, turn on Marketplace. This one toggle covers DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Grubhub.

  3. Turn off Online, POS, and Kiosk so the category shows up on marketplaces only.

Change which menu syncs

You can switch the menu that syncs to DoorDash at any time.

  1. In your Owner dashboard, go to Settings, then Marketplaces, and open your DoorDash store.

  2. Under Menu to sync, choose a different menu.

  3. Click Save.

⚠️ Caution: Switching menus replaces your current DoorDash menu with the new one.

Manage your hours

Your DoorDash hours come from your Online hours in Owner, so you set them once.

  1. In your Owner dashboard, go to Settings, then Location Settings, then Hours.

  2. Open Online hours. These set when guests can place pickup or delivery orders, and they're what sync to DoorDash.

  3. Choose how to set them: Same as store hours, Offset from store hours, or Custom.

  4. Save. Your hours, including Special hours like holidays, sync to DoorDash automatically.

ℹ️ DoorDash stops taking orders about 25 minutes before your closing time. That's normal on DoorDash's side, so every order can be delivered before you close. It's not a sync problem.

Pause DoorDash orders

Pause DoorDash orders when you need a break, without disconnecting. You can do this from your tablet, your POS, the Owner dashboard, or the Owner App.

You have two options:

  • All online orders pauses your own online ordering and every connected marketplace, including DoorDash.

  • DoorDash orders pauses DoorDash only and leaves your own online ordering running.

Pause DoorDash only

  1. Tap Kitchen status, then Busy.

  2. Tap Pause online orders.

  3. Open the DoorDash orders tab.

  4. Choose how long to pause: 30 mins, 60 mins, or until a set time.

  5. Tap Pause DoorDash orders.

ℹ️ If you have more than one marketplace connected, this tab is called Marketplace orders instead. Under Pause orders from, check the ones you want to pause, then tap Pause marketplace orders.

Pause online and marketplace orders together

  1. Tap Kitchen status, then Busy.

  2. Tap Pause online orders.

  3. Open the All online orders tab.

  4. Choose how long to pause: 30 mins, 60 mins, or until a set time. Owner shows you an estimate of the sales you'd miss over that time.

  5. Tap Pause online ordering.

Resume orders

While orders are paused, you'll see a banner at the top of the screen that reads Online & marketplace orders paused.

  1. Tap the banner.

  2. Tap Resume all orders. This resumes your own online ordering and every paused marketplace.

Disconnect DoorDash

Disconnecting DoorDash isn't something you can do yourself in Owner. Owner support handles it, once your DoorDash side is cleared.

⚠️ Caution: Disconnecting doesn't take your restaurant off DoorDash. Your DoorDash storefront stays live and keeps taking orders until you pause or close it from the DoorDash Merchant Portal, or pause DoorDash orders in Owner.

  1. Clear the integration on DoorDash's side first. Do this from the DoorDash Merchant Portal, or by contacting DoorDash support directly.

  2. Once that's done, contact Owner support to finish removing the integration from your Owner dashboard.

ℹ️ We wait until DoorDash's side is cleared before disconnecting on our end, so you don't run into errors if you reconnect later.
