How are menu items selected for promotion in my automated marketing emails?

Owner's automated marketing emails select up to 4 menu items to feature in each campaign.


How items are selected

The system uses a two-step process to choose which items to feature:

  1. Popular items first: The system looks for items marked as "popular" in your menu that meet all the eligibility requirements below.

  2. Fill gaps with top-sellers: If fewer than 4 popular items qualify, the remaining slots are filled with your highest-revenue items that meet the same requirements.

ℹ️ The system always aims to show exactly 4 items. Top-sellers only fill remaining slots. They don't replace popular items.


Item requirements

For a menu item to appear in an automated marketing email, it must meet all of the following:

  • Has a description

  • Has an image

  • Has a loyalty points value greater than 0

  • Priced over $5.00

  • Marked as available

  • On an active menu under an available category

⚠️ Items marked as "popular" that don't meet all requirements won't appear. The system uses other qualifying items to fill those slots instead.


How to troubleshoot items not appearing

If the items in your emails aren't what you expected, check that your preferred items meet all the requirements above.

1. Log in to your Owner Dashboard and go to Menu.

2. Click the Items tab at the top of the page.

3. Filter by Popular to view all popular menu items.

4. Confirm each item has a description, image, and points value greater than 0.

5. Confirm each item is priced over $5.00 and marked as available.

6. Confirm the item's category and menu are both active.

Once your popular items meet all the requirements, they'll appear in your next automated marketing email.

✅ Adding descriptions and images to your menu items also improves the ordering experience for guests browsing your menu online.


Can I choose which items appear?

Not at this time. Item selection is fully automated. The best way to control which items show up is to mark your preferred items as "popular" and make sure they meet all the requirements above.

ℹ️ If your restaurant has multiple locations, items are matched by name across all locations. Items only available at one location may not appear in your emails.
