Owner promotes your branded mobile app to guests, so more of them order from your app instead of third-party marketplaces. Most of this happens automatically, and one option is yours to add to your own emails.
Where your app is promoted
Owner promotes your app in four places. Each one is explained below.
Where | Channel | Who controls it | When it happens |
Website footer | Your website | Owner (automatic) | A guest visits your online ordering site on a compatible device |
Owner app adoption emails | Owner (automatic) | Owner sends them from time to time
Get the App buttons | You | You add the section to a one-time email
Text after an in-store order | SMS | Owner (automatic) | A guest's phone number is on an in-store order |
App download footer on your website
Your online ordering site shows a footer that asks visitors to download your mobile app. It turns on automatically as soon as you have a live mobile app.
How it works:
It always shows on your online ordering site. It isn't a one-time prompt.
It only appears when you have a live app for the guest's device:
Guests on iPhone see it only if you have a live iOS app.
Guests on Android see it only if you have a live Android app.
Expired or inactive apps are never promoted, so the footer always matches the current state of your app.
Owner app adoption emails
From time to time, Owner emails guests across all brands to encourage them to download and use the app. These emails are separate from your lifecycle campaigns and from one-time emails you send yourself.
How it works:
Owner sends them, not individual restaurants.
They go to guests who don't have your app yet.
They encourage guests to open your app and place their first app order.
ℹ️ Note: You don't need to do anything. These emails run automatically.
Get the App buttons in your own emails
You can add App Store and Google Play badges to your one-time marketing emails, so subscribers can download your app.
How it works:
Add the badges in the one-time email builder under Add Section › Get the App Buttons.
Which badges appear depends on which apps are live:
iOS app only: only the App Store badge appears.
Android app only: only the Google Play badge appears.
Both apps live: both badges appear.
No live apps: the option doesn't appear in the list of sections.
ℹ️ Note: For the full steps, see Send a one-time email campaign.
Text after an in-store order
When a guest's phone number is on an in-store order, they get a text asking them to download your app. The text includes $5 off their first app order with code APP5.
How it works:
It's sent when the guest's phone number is on an order from the cashier tablet, a tablet phone order, or the kiosk.
It only sends if you have a live iOS app being promoted. Brands with only an Android app don't send it.
It isn't sent if the guest placed an app order in the last 30 days.
At the kiosk, a guest can skip entering their phone number for loyalty by tapping I don't want my points. The POS tablet has no matching opt-out. There, the text is only skipped if:
The order has no phone number.
You don't have a live iOS app.
The guest placed an app order in the last 30 days.
It connects the points guests earn in store to your app.
Message text:
Points earned: "You earned N points at [Brand]! Download our app to manage them and get $5 off your first order with code APP5: [link]"
No points (your brand doesn't use points, or the guest earned zero): "Thanks for dining with us at [Brand]. Download our app for faster ordering and get $5 off your first order with code APP5: [link]"
Both messages end with "Reply STOP to unsubscribe."
