Change a menu item's internal name

Change a menu item's internal name to give it a different name for you and your staff, without changing what guests see on your menu.

Every menu item has a display name and an internal name. The display name is what guests see on your menu. The internal name is what you and your staff see on the Dashboard, tablet, and printed tickets.

Use an internal name when:

  • Your staff speak a different language than your guests.

  • You use Clover and the item names in Clover are different from what you want guests to see.

  • You have internal names for items that wouldn't make sense to a guest.

In the Owner Dashboard

  1. Click Menu in the left-hand navigation.

  2. Click the Items tab at the top of the page.

  3. Click the item you want to edit.

  4. Scroll down to Use a different name internally and toggle it on.

  5. In the box that appears, enter the internal name (what shows on tickets and the Dashboard).

  6. Click Save Item.
