What is Kitchen Status?

The Kitchen Status setting on your Owner tablet lets you signal whether your kitchen is running normally or needs extra prep time.

  • Normal: Orders process as usual, using the prep times set in your Owner Dashboard.

  • Busy: Automatically adds extra prep time (in 5-minute increments) to every order for the next hour, then returns to Normal.

ℹ️ Guests receive a text message when their pickup or delivery time is pushed back.

When to use Busy Mode

  • You are overwhelmed by orders and need breathing room.

  • You want to avoid fully closing online ordering but still need to slow things down.

  • You prefer a temporary delay rather than changing availability hours.

How to switch Kitchen Status on your tablet

  1. Open the Kitchen App on your in-restaurant tablet.

  2. Tap the Kitchen Status button in the bottom-left corner. You may see a small restaurant-icon or label saying “Kitchen Status.”

  3. Choose one of the two options:

    • Normal: Return to your standard prep times.

    • Busy: Add extra prep time for all incoming orders.

  4. If you select Busy, set the extra time in 5-minute increments.

  5. Confirm your choice. Busy Mode stays active for 1 hour, then automatically reverts to Normal.

When Busy Mode is on, online guests will:

  • See an adjusted pickup/delivery time.

  • Receive a text message notifying them of the new time.

Need a predictable slowdown?

If you have regular busy periods (for example, every Friday lunch), consider using Prep Time Overrides instead for a longer-term solution.
