Pressing pause helps you manage sudden order spikes, catch up during busy periods, or close temporarily for staff breaks.
1. Use Busy Mode
Busy Mode tells guests your kitchen is busy and suggests they order later.
In Owner, go to Restaurant > Online Ordering > Settings.
Toggle Busy Mode on.
Set a clear message, for example:
“We’re busy right now! Please check back in 15–30 minutes.”
Save your changes.
Guests will still see your menu, but they’ll know you’re temporarily busy.
2. Adjust Prep Time Overrides
Increasing prep times slows the flow of orders.
In Owner, navigate to Restaurant > Menu > Items.
For each item or category, click Edit.
Under Prep Time, add extra minutes (e.g., from 10 min to 30 min).
Save.
Longer prep times signal guests that you’re taking longer than usual, which can reduce ordering volume.
3. “Pause” by changing Menu Availability Hours
Temporarily closing your menu online is like pausing all orders. Just remember to reopen it when you’re ready.
Go to Restaurant > Menu > Menus in Owner.
Click the menu you want to hide.
Under Availability Hours, remove or adjust all time slots so there’s no “open” window.
Save.
When you’re ready to resume, reset the original hours.
Add a calendar reminder so you don’t forget to reopen!
What’s not available yet
Order throttling: You cannot limit “X orders per hour.”
One-click pause: There’s no single “Pause Online Ordering” button.
