ℹ️ A kitchen override is a recurring schedule that changes your prep time or limits how many orders come in during a busy window, like Friday dinner rush. You can set up as many as you need.
Open the schedule editor
1. Tap the menu icon in the top-left corner of your device.
2. Tap Settings, then tap Prep time.
3. Tap + Add schedule.
Pick the days and times
1. Under Days, tap each day of the week this schedule should apply to. At least one day is required.
2. Tap Start and pick the time this schedule kicks in.
3. Tap End and pick the time it ends.
Use a custom prep time (optional)
Turn this on if you want this schedule to use a different prep time than your default.
1. Toggle Prep time override on.
2. Tap a preset (10, 15, 30, 45, or 60 minutes) or tap Enter amount to set a custom value (up to 180 minutes).
Limit orders or items during the schedule (optional)
Turn this on to cap how many orders or items come in during the schedule's time window. Use this for busy windows when your kitchen needs breathing room.
1. Toggle Order throttling on.
2. Tap Orders to cap the total number of orders, or Items to cap the total number of items.
3. Tap a preset (5, 10, 15, 20, or 25) or tap Enter amount for a custom value. Limits go up to 100 for orders or 1000 for items.
ℹ️ If you're throttling by items, you can exclude specific items from the count (for example, a drink that doesn't slow your kitchen down). Set the Override conditions on each item from the menu. See How do I change menu item settings on the Owner POS and Owner Tablet? for steps.
Save the schedule
Tap Save in the top-right corner.
⚠️ At least one of Prep time override or Order throttling needs to be on. If your selected days and times overlap an existing schedule, a red banner appears telling you which schedule conflicts. Tap Edit in the banner to fix it.
