Get approval to send SMS marketing

Before you can text your guests, your business has to be registered and approved for SMS marketing. You submit the registration from your Owner Dashboard, and it's checked against business records by The Campaign Registry.

Requirements

  • An EIN (Employer Identification Number). No other number works, including a Social Security number. A sole proprietorship without an EIN cannot use SMS marketing.

Before you start

Have this information ready. The form asks for:

  • Legal Company Name: your business's legal name. It's often different from the name on your Dashboard, and you'll find it on your legal documents.

  • Company Type: your type of business.

  • EIN: your nine-digit Employer Identification Number, which is on your tax forms. You can type it with or without the hyphen (123456789 or 12-3456789).

  • Authorized Representative: someone at the restaurant, usually the owner or a manager.

Submit your registration

Use the information above to fill in the registration form.

  1. In your Owner Dashboard, go to Settings › Marketing › SMS Marketing.

  2. Fill in the form.

  3. Submit the form.

Check your registration status

The SMS Marketing row shows your current status. It can be:

  • Register

  • Pending review

  • Action required

  • Approved

  • Declined

  • Domain required

Reports of a rejection or issue

If a post-live customer reports that their SMS registration was rejected, stuck, or not working as expected, Support cannot resolve it directly. Please submit a bug report so it goes to the Wild West team.

  1. Collect the details: the customer's correct EIN & Legal business name (the best thing would be to request the incorporation documents from the customer that includes this information), the current status shown in SMS Marketing, and any rejection message the customer sees.

  2. Submit a bug report following How do I submit a bug report in the dashboard?.

  3. The report is posted automatically in #wild-west. Add any extra context in that Slack thread.

  4. Do not tag Engineering directly, and do not try to reset or resubmit the registration yourself.
