Your Owner POS arrives ready to use. We set it up and connect it to your network before it ships, so most pieces work as soon as you plug them in.
The first time you power on your tablet, it also runs an on-screen setup. For those steps, see Set up your tablet and printer for the first time.
What's in the box
Your POS station includes:
Cash drawer (with two keys)
Receipt printer (with a paper roll)
Router
POS tablet (staff-facing)
Guest-facing tablet (checkout)
Card reader, plus a backup card reader
All cords
Connect the cash drawer and printer
Connect these two before you power on the printer. The cash drawer connects to the printer with a cable, so it opens automatically for cash payments. Card payments don't open the drawer.
Connect the cash drawer
Find the two keys and set them somewhere safe.
Find the included cord. One end is labeled Printer, the other is unlabeled.
Plug the unlabeled end into the port on the bottom of the cash drawer.
Plug the Printer end into the printer's port labeled Cash Drawer / Buzzer.
Unlock the cash drawer with a key, turning it to vertical, so it can open during cash payments.
Power on the printer
Plug the printer into a wall outlet. The blue light turns on.
Open the lid, load the paper roll so it feeds from the bottom, then close the lid.
Press the Paper feed button once to check the paper feeds correctly.
Set up the router and internet
Your router manages the network for the whole station and has a built-in cellular backup. Plug it in first so it's connected before you set up the tablets.
Plug the router into a power outlet. It joins the network automatically.
Turn the antennas upward for the strongest signal.
Optional: for a more stable connection, use the included cable to connect the router directly to your existing internet router.
ℹ️ Note: The Owner router's Wi-Fi password is owner.com (all lowercase), which is different from your own internet provider's password. If a device won't connect to the Owner router, check that it's using owner.com.
Connect the tablets and card reader
The larger tablet is your staff-facing POS. The smaller tablet is the guest-facing checkout screen that shows order details, tip options, and loyalty.
Connect the card reader to the base station behind your POS tablet with its USB-C cable. It pairs with your POS tablet over Bluetooth for everyday use. For the full steps, see Set up and use your Owner POS card reader.
Press and hold the top side button on each tablet until the screen turns on.
Plug both tablets into power so they stay charged during service.
Sign in and check your devices
Open the Owner app on the POS tablet. If it does not sign in automatically, enter your location code. To find it, see Find your location code to log in.
Select your station. If you see Last used, choose that.
Go to Settings.
Confirm your Printer, Card reader, and Guest tablet all show Connected.
Run a test print to confirm the printer works.
ℹ️ Note: To log out of the guest-facing tablet, for example if it signed in to the wrong station, tap the top-right corner of its screen four times, then confirm.
Arrange your station
Set up the hardware so staff can work and guests can pay easily:
Staff side: cash drawer and POS tablet facing your staff.
Guest side: guest-facing tablet and card reader within the guest's reach.
Printer: near the POS for quick ticket access.
Cables: route and secure them to keep the counter tidy.
