Your Owner POS card reader arrives paired and ready to take payments. It connects to your POS tablet over Bluetooth, with a USB-C cable as a wired backup.
Requirements
Owner POS with a card reader
Physical setup
Mount the reader and power it on before you open the app.
⚠️ The cradle is a friction mount only. There are no screws, latches, or adhesive holding the reader in place. To remove it, slide the reader straight up and off the cradle. Pulling it outward or wiggling it side to side will not release it.
Removing the reader from the cradle doesn't affect how it works. The cradle is just a stand to hold the reader upright. It isn't part of the connection.
Plug the card reader into a USB cable. When it powers on, the lights flash left to right. This means it's on and ready to connect.
Software setup
Your reader usually arrives already paired. If you need to connect it again, use the steps below.
Before you pair
Each device needs its own reader. If your location runs more than one device, like a POS and a Kiosk, or several POS tablets, give each one its own reader before pairing.
Sunmi Flex tablets pair differently. Open the tablet's own Bluetooth settings and pair the card reader there first. Then follow the steps below to connect it in the app. On OnePlus and Lenovo tablets, skip this. Pairing and connecting both happen in the steps below.
⚠️ Verify the serial number before pairing. When the app shows available readers, check that the serial number on screen matches the one printed on the back of the reader. This prevents pairing to the wrong reader when more than one is nearby.
In the Owner app, go to Settings › Station.
Tap the Card reader tile on the station diagram.
When asked to choose Bluetooth or USB, tap Bluetooth.
Tap your reader when the app finds it in the scan for nearby readers.
When the pairing request appears, tap Pair.
Take a payment
Your reader accepts three ways to pay. If one doesn't work, try another.
Tap: the guest holds their card or phone near the reader.
Chip: the guest inserts the card chip-first into the bottom slot.
Swipe: the guest swipes the card through the side slot.
Charging and battery
The reader charges over the same USB-C cable used for a wired connection. A full charge takes about two hours and lasts a full day of typical use.
You can keep using the reader while it charges.
The battery percentage shown in the app is approximate.
Good to know
It reboots once a day. For security, the reader restarts every 24 hours. You'll see a "For security, your reader is rebooting" message, and it reconnects on its own.
It sleeps when idle. To save battery, the reader sleeps after a while. Press the power button to wake it.
Firmware updates install automatically. If an update is pending, it installs right after pairing. You don't need to do anything, and the reader connects when it's done.
