Your Owner tablet shows the status of your paired Owner printer, so you can tell whether it's ready to print and what to do when it isn't.
Requirements
An Owner printer paired with your Owner tablet or POS (third-party printers aren't supported)
Where to find printer status
Your printer's status shows as a colored label next to your printer on the Station settings page.
Tap the menu icon (☰) in the top-left.
Go to Settings › Station.
The same status also appears in an alert banner when there's an active issue, like paper out or the cover open.
Printer status reference
Use this table to see what each status means and what to do.
Status | What it means | What to do |
🟢 Connected | Your tablet is paired with your Owner printer and ready to print orders. | No action needed. If orders aren't printing, run a test print before troubleshooting further. |
🟡 Low paper | The printer is still working, but the paper roll is running low. Orders continue to print until the roll runs out. | Swap in a fresh thermal roll soon. Owner ships a starter pack only, so you'll need to buy replacement paper. |
🔴 No paper | The paper roll is empty or jammed. The printer can't print. | Load a fresh roll. The paper feeds from the bottom of the roll. The status clears to Connected once you close the cover on a properly loaded roll. |
🔴 Cover open | The printer's paper compartment is open. | Close the cover firmly until it latches. The status clears to Connected automatically. |
🟡 Holding paper | The printer is holding a printed label or receipt, waiting for you to take it. This is common with sticky label paper. The printer is healthy. | Take the printed label or receipt. Printing continues once you clear it. |
🔴 Unable to connect | The tablet has lost its connection to a previously paired printer (powered off, out of Bluetooth range, paired to another device, or a hardware issue). | Reconnect your printer. |
⏳ Connecting... | Your tablet is searching for the paired printer. This is temporary and should resolve to Connected or Unable to connect within about 10 seconds. | Wait a few seconds. If it doesn't resolve, power-cycle the printer and check again. |
ℹ️ Note: After you fix a hardware issue like closing the cover or loading paper, the status may not update right away. If the error sticks, tap the printer status, remove the printer, and add it again, which takes about 30 seconds and clears the stale status once the issue is resolved.
Staff tablet status
Separate from the printer indicator, the Staff tablet tile on Settings › Station shows Connected or Disconnected.
That reflects your tablet's own network connection (Wi-Fi or LTE), not the printer's Bluetooth link, and not whether the tablet is reaching Owner. For network and Owner Hub status, check the Connectivity row on the same screen.
Staff tablet says Connected, printer says Unable to connect: your tablet is online, but the Bluetooth link to the printer is broken. Troubleshoot the printer.
Staff tablet says Disconnected: your tablet has lost its network connection. Check your Wi-Fi first. Orders won't reach the tablet until this clears, whatever the printer status.
Add or remove a printer
If no printer is paired, the Station settings page shows a + Printer button instead of a status label. Tapping a paired printer opens a details window showing the printer model, connection type, and a Remove button.
For the full first-time pairing flow, see Set up your tablet and printer for the first time.
