During in-store checkout, the guest-facing tablet shows a loyalty prompt, then a tip screen with three preset percentages, a custom dollar amount, or No tip. You choose these tip amounts in your tip settings.
Step 1: Loyalty prompt
After your staff selects the payment method (Card, Cash, or Card entry) on the staff POS, the guest-facing tablet shows the loyalty prompt first:
Heading: "Claim your points", followed by the points the order will earn (for example, "120 points") and "to earn free food and receive offers and promotions".
The guest can either enter their phone number to earn loyalty points, or tap Skip to bypass loyalty and go directly to the tip screen. Once the guest starts entering digits, that button changes to Signup / Login.
ℹ️ Note: The loyalty prompt only appears if the guest hasn't already provided a phone number this session. If a phone number is already attached to the order, the flow skips straight to the tip screen.
Step 2: Tip screen
The tip screen shows next:
Heading: Add a tip?
Three preset percentage buttons (18%, 20%, and 22% by default).
Custom Tip: a dollar amount only (no percentage), entered on a number pad and confirmed with the Add tip button.
No tip: leaves no tip and continues.
Tapping a percentage button or No tip immediately records the tip and moves the guest to the payment screen. There's no separate confirm step. Only the custom tip number pad has a confirm button (Add tip). A Back arrow is available unless the location shows the tip screen before guest info.
Default tip percentages
Order type | Default tip percentages | Preselected |
In-store (POS) | 18%, 20%, 22% | None |
Pickup, Delivery (online) | 10%, 15%, 20% | 20% |
ℹ️ Note: These are the defaults. To change them, see Set the tip options guests see at checkout.
