When you refund a guest, Stripe processes it. The refund shows up on their statement in one of two ways, depending on when you issue it.
How a refund appears
What the guest sees depends on whether the original charge has settled.
As a reversal: If you refund shortly after the charge, before it settled, the guest won't see a separate credit. Instead, the original charge drops off entirely (full refund) or posts for a smaller amount (partial refund). Depending on their card issuer, this can take up to five business days.
As a refund (credit): If you refund after the charge settled, the guest sees a separate credit or payment on their statement.
How long a refund takes
Either way, a refund usually takes about one to three business days to appear on the guest's account. It can take up to five business days, depending on the guest's bank.
