How do I update my bank account and tax details in Stripe?

If you have your own Stripe login (an older Standard Connect setup), you update your payout bank account and tax details (LLC name or EIN) directly in the Stripe Dashboard. Owner can't make these changes for you.

Requirements

  • Your own Stripe login (an older Standard Connect setup)

Note: If you use Owner Payments, you don't log in to Stripe. You manage your bank and tax details in your Owner Dashboard instead. See How do I update my account details in the Owner Dashboard?.

Update your payout bank account

Stripe only accepts bank accounts for payouts. Debit cards aren't supported. To add a new bank account, or make a change that Stripe requires, log in to Stripe directly.

  1. Log in to your Stripe Dashboard.

  2. Go to Settings › Business › Bank Account and Currencies.

  3. Under Settlement Currencies and Bank Account, click the three dots next to your current bank account.

  4. Select Edit.

Owner cannot make this change for you. Only you, as the account owner, can update it in Stripe. If you get stuck, contact Stripe Support.

Switch your default payout account

Already have more than one bank account linked in Stripe? You can switch your default payout account from your Owner Dashboard, without logging in to Stripe.

  1. In your Owner Dashboard, go to Settings › Payments › Account Details.

  2. Click Edit next to the payout bank account.

  3. Select the new default.

  4. Click Save.

Update your LLC name or EIN

If your LLC name or EIN changes, update it in Stripe. Your payments keep processing, but Stripe uses this information for year-end tax reporting, so incorrect details will cause problems at tax time.

Open your tax details

  1. Log in to your Stripe Dashboard.

  2. Click the Settings gear at the top, then click Settings.

  3. Scroll down to Business Settings › Your Business.

  4. Click Tax Details.

Save your new details

  1. Enter the updated information.

  2. Click Update.

Owner cannot make this change for you. Only you, as the account owner, can update it in Stripe. If you get stuck, contact Stripe Support.
