Your domain is your website address, like yourrestaurant.com. You keep owning it, and Owner connects it to your Owner website so guests find you at the same address.
Who does what
Owner takes care of the technical setup, and you keep control of your domain account.
Owner:
Connects your domain to your Owner website.
Manages your domain's settings (DNS records).
Adds and renews the security certificate (SSL) that keeps your website safe.
Keeps your website up and running.
You:
Renew and pay for your domain every year with your domain company, like GoDaddy or Squarespace.
Keep the login to your domain company account.
Keep your email inbox, if you have email at your domain.
Connect your domain
You connect your domain when you first set up your Owner website. You'll sign in to your domain company, like GoDaddy, so Owner can update your domain's settings. Owner Support can help if you have a problem.
Most domains connect within an hour, but it can take up to 24 hours. A few domain companies, like Wix, need your domain moved to a new company first. That takes about seven days.
✅ Tip: Don't have a domain yet? Owner can get one for you, and the first year is free.
What to pay for at your domain company
Owner only needs your domain to stay active. When you renew, the basic domain registration is all you need. You don't need:
Privacy or WHOIS protection
Premium plans
A website builder
An SSL or security add-on (Owner provides this)
Got a letter or email asking you to pay for a "domain listing" or directory service? You don't need it. It isn't part of your domain renewal, and your website works without it.
ℹ️ Note: Have email at your domain, like [email protected]? Keep paying for your email service.
Your email
Connecting your domain to Owner doesn't change your email. Owner keeps your email settings when it connects your domain. If your email stops working after you connect, contact Owner Support right away.
Make a change to your domain
The Owner team manages your domain settings. Contact Owner Support when you want to:
Switch to a different domain.
Add settings for your email or another service.
Send another domain you own to your Owner website.
