ℹ️ Note: options and option groups are also known as modifiers and modifier groups.
With a Toast integration you 86 items and options in Toast, not in Owner. The change reaches Otter and Owner straight away, so you don't wait for the usual 10-minute sync.
Toast's own guide has the steps: 86 an item on the POS or Toast Web.
If an option is used in more than one place on your menu, 86ing it marks it unavailable everywhere. That's useful when you run out of one bagel flavour but still have the bagel itself.
86ing an item is not the same as setting hours
When you mark an item or category unavailable, it disappears from your online menu.
A category with its own availability hours behaves differently. Outside those hours it still shows on your menu, sorted to the bottom and greyed out, and guests can't order from it until the hours start. Items don't have hours of their own, so to give one item its own window, put it in its own category.
If you 86 something and it's still on your menu
Your Owner / Otter menu in Toast is normally built from the same items as your in-house menu. 86 one and both update. On some setups the two menus hold their own separate copies of each item instead, so 86ing one leaves the other on sale.
⚠️ If the item is still showing after you 86 it, mark it unavailable on your Owner / Otter menu in Toast as well. Toast calls these separate copies deep copies.
