Add a photo to a menu item

Add a photo to a menu item so guests see it on your website and ordering pages. Here's how to add one in the Owner Dashboard.

✅ Short on time? Ask Owner Agent to add a photo to a menu item for you. Open Ask Owner in your Owner Dashboard or Owner App.

In the Owner Dashboard

Open the item, then upload and crop your photo.

⚠️ Only use photos you have the right to use. Don't use photos taken from third-party delivery apps like DoorDash, Grubhub, or Yelp.

Open the item

  1. Click Menu in the left-hand navigation.

  2. Click the Items tab at the top of the page.

  3. Click the item you want to edit.

Upload the photo

  1. Start the upload:

    • If the item has no photo, click Upload Image.

    • If it already has a photo, click the three-dot menu (⋯) on the photo and select Replace.

    • If your menu syncs from Clover Menu Sync or Otter, the three-dot menu shows Override instead of Replace. Choose Override to upload an Owner-side photo, or Restore from POS to drop the override and go back to the POS image.

  2. Select your image file from your computer.

  3. In the crop editor, position the frame. It's locked to a 1:1 square.

  4. Click Update.

  5. Click Save.

Image requirements

Your photo must meet these requirements:

  • Supported file types: JPG, JPEG, and PNG.

  • Minimum dimensions: 500 x 500 pixels.

  • Aspect ratio: 1:1 (square). Every upload opens the crop editor locked to a 1:1 square.

✅ Tip: For best results, use high-quality, well-lit photos at least 1000 x 1000 pixels so they look sharp on all devices, including high-resolution displays.
