Differences between DoorDash, Uber Eats and Grubhub

Nearly everything works the same way across all three marketplaces. These are the places they don't, so you know what to expect before it catches you out.

ℹ️ Note: Grubhub has the longest list here because it handles pricing, tax and cancellations through its own systems rather than through Owner. It isn't a sign the connection works less well.

Uber Eats

  • A sold out item won't come back on its own. You'll need to mark it available again in Owner.

  • Uber Eats sets its own prep and ready times. It works them out from things like past orders and driver availability, so the time on your listing may not match what you set in Owner.

Grubhub

  • Connecting replaces your Grubhub menu. Your existing Grubhub menu is wiped and replaced with your Owner menu, so make sure your Owner menu is complete before you connect.

  • Separate pickup and delivery prices need your Grubhub rep. Ticking Use in store price for pickup in Owner isn't enough on its own, you'll need to ask your Grubhub rep to turn it on.

  • Grubhub handles tax in Marketplace Facilitator states. It calculates and remits the tax itself rather than using your Owner tax settings. This is expected, not a fault.

  • Cancellations aren't instant. They go to Grubhub Care for approval and can be turned down, and you'll get an email if that happens.

  • Grubhub can pause your store without telling Owner why. Owner records the pause but not the reason. You'll find it in your Grubhub portal, and Grubhub emails you as well.

  • Menu syncs take longer. Around 5 to 10 minutes, where DoorDash and Uber Eats are quicker.

  • Grubhub stops taking orders about 15 minutes before you close. That's normal on Grubhub's side, not a sync problem.

  • A Grubhub pause has no set length. Grubhub reopens you the next business day.
